In dieser Abhandlung zur Kenntnis über die Gattung Antheraea Hübner, 1819 ("1816") (Lepidoptera: Saturniidae) auf Sumatera (Indonesien) werden einige taxonomische Veränderungen vorgenommen und diskutiert. A. sumatrana Niepelt, 1926, rev.stat., wird aus der Synonymie wieder auf Artrang angehoben und als der korrekte Name für A. gschwandneri Niepelt, 1918 ([part.] sensu Nässig et al. 1996) angesehen. Von Sumatera und den angrenzenden kleineren Inseln sind bisher 13 Arten der Gattung Antheraea sowie eine Gesamtanzahl von 26 Arten für die Familie Saturniidae bekannt, zuzüglich einer weiteren unbeschriebenen Art der Gattung Antheraea von Mentawai. A. youngi Watson, 1915, rev.stat., wird als eigenständige Art und nicht als Unterart von A. castanea Jordan, 1910 angesehen. A. youngi und A. castanea sind Mitglieder verschiedener Gruppierungen unterhalb der Untergattung Antheraeopsis Wood-Mason, 1886, nämlich der youngi-Gruppe beziehungsweise der castanea-Gruppe. Die Schreibweise roylii wird als korrekte Original-Schreibweise angesehen, während es sich bei roylei um eine falsche Schreibweise von A. roylii Moore, 1859 von Folgeautoren handelt. Die nachträgliche Designation des weiblichen Lectotypen von A. korintjiana Bouvier, 1928 durch Nässig & Holloway (1989) ist nicht gültig, weil bereits ein männlicher [Lecto]typus von Bouvier in dessen Korrektur zur Urbeschreibung (= valide nachträgliche Designation gemäß ICZN (1985) Art. 74(a)(i)) vorgenommen wurde. Über einen ersten Nachweis der Sundaland-Art A. lampei Nässig & Holloway, 1989 von Ranong im südlichen Thailand wird berichtet. Ranong ist der nördlichste Punkt der bisher bekannten Verbreitung von A. lampei in Südost-Asien. Derzeit sind 34 Arten der Familie Saturniidae von Thailand bekannt – zuzüglich einer neuen Art der Gattung Samia Hübner, 1819 ("1816"), die demnächst von Naumann & Peigler beschrieben wird. |
| Abstract
In this contribution to the knowledge of the taxa of the genus Antheraea Hübner, 1819 ("1816") (Lepidoptera: Saturniidae) from Sumatra, Indonesia, some taxonomic changes and discussions are presented. A. sumatrana Niepelt, 1926, rev.stat., is released from synonymy and considered to be the correct name for A. gschwandneri Niepelt, 1918 ([part.] sensu Nässig et al. 1996). From Sumatra and the adjacent smaller islands 13 taxa of the genus Antheraea and a total numer of 26 taxa of the family Saturniidae are known thus far., plus one undescribed taxon of the genus Anthereaea from Mentawai. A. youngi Watson, 1915, rev.stat., is considered to be a distinct species and not a subspecies of A. castanea Jordan, 1910. A. youngi and A. castanea are members of different species-groups of the subgenus Antheraeopsis Wood-Mason, 1886, those are the youngi-group and the castanea-group, respectively. The spelling roylii is considered to be the correct original spelling and the spelling roylei an incorrect subsequent spelling for A. roylii Moore, 1859. We consider the subsequent designation of the female lectotype of A. korintjiana Bouvier, 1928 by Nässig & Holloway, 1989) to be not valid because a male [lecto]type already was designated by Bouvier in the Corrigenda of the original description (= valid subsequent designation), cf. ICZN (1985) Art. 74(a)(i). The Sundanian A. lampei Nässig & Holloway, 1989 is recorded from Ranong, southern Thailand, for the first time. Ranong is the northernmost range of A. lampei on the South East Asian continent thus far. Presently 34 taxa of the family Saturniidae are known from Thailand, plus a new taxon of the genus Samia Hübner, 1819 ("1816") which will be described by Naumann & Peigler. |
