Die Abhandlung befaßt sich mit einer bemerkenswerten Art der Gattung Antheraea Hübner, 1819 ("1816"): Antheraea (Antheraeopsis) mezops Bryk, 1944 (stat.rev., stat.nov.). A. (Ao.) mezops wird als der korrekte Name für die montanen Populationen der Untergattung Antheaeopsis Wood-Mason, 1886 angesehen, deren Verbreitung sich vom nördlichen Myanmar über das chinesische Yunnan-Plateau bis zum nördlichen Vietnam erstreckt. A. (Ao.) mezops bevorzugt größere Höhen. Die Höhenverbreitung reicht von 1600–2500 m in Myanmar und Vietnam sowie 3000–3800 m in der Volksrepublik China. In niedrigeren Höhen dieser Fundorte sind morphologisch eigenständige Populationen [wahrscheinlich Antheraea (Antheraeopsis) chengtuana Watson, 1923] zu finden. A. (Ao.) mezops ist ein Mitglied der castanea-Gruppe (= assamensis-Gruppe im Sinne von Nässig). Aufgrund der deutlichen morphologischen Unterschiede in den männlichen Genitalien gehen wir davon aus, daß A. (Ao.) mezops weder eine Unterart von A. (Ao.) assamensis (Helfer, 1837) noch von irgendeiner anderen Art der castanea-Gruppe ist. Die Entwicklungsstadien von A. (Ao.) mezops sind unbekannt. Es können keinerlei Angaben über die Biologie dieser Art gemacht werden, wie auch keine Kenntnisse über die ökologischen Ansprüche bekannt sind. Das Weibchen von A. (Ao.) mezops vom Mt. Fan-si-pan in Vietnam [aus coll. R. Brechlin, Pasewalk] wird erstmalig beschrieben und abgebildet. |
| Abstract
The contribution deals with a remarkable taxon of the genus Antheraea Hübner, 1819 ("1816") (Lepidoptera: Saturniidae): Antheraea (Antheraeopsis) mezops Bryk, 1944, (stat.rev., stat.nov.). A. (Ao.) mezops is considered to be the correct name for the montane populations of the subgenus Antheraeopsis Wood-Mason, 1886, which range down from northern Myanmar to northern Vietnam via the Chinese Yunnan Plateau. A. (Ao.) mezops obviously prefers high elevations. Its altitudinal distribution ranges from 1600–2500 m (Myanmar and Vietnam) and 3000–3800 m (P. R. China). In lower elevations of the same localities morphological distinct populations [most likely Antheraea (Antheraeopsis) chengtuana Watson, 1923] of this subgenus are present. A. (Ao.) mezops is a member of the castanea-group (= assamensis-group sensu Nässig). Due to significant differences in the morphology of the male genitalia, we consider that A. (Ao.) mezops neither to be a subspecies of A. (Ao.) assamensis (Helfer, 1837) nor of any other taxon of the castanea-group. Therefore, instars of A. (Ao.) mezops remain unknown and nothing is known on its biology and ecology. The female of A. (Ao.) mezops is figured and described for the first time, based on a female from Mt. Fan-si-pan, Vietnam [in coll. R. Brechlin, Pasewalk]. |
