Inhaltsangabe
Diese Abhandlung zur Kenntnis südostasiatischer Seidenspinner basiert auf Untersuchungen an der Gattung Antheraea Hübner, 1819 ("1816"). Taxonomische Veränderungen und Beschreibungen neuer Taxa werden vor Vollendung der Gattungsmonographie von Antheraea (U. Paukstadt, Brosch & L.H. Paukstadt, in Vorbereitung) vorab publiziert.

Abstract
The contribution on the knowledge of the Southeast Asian wild silk moths (Lepidoptera: Saturniidae) is a result of intensive studies on the genus Antheraea Hübner, 1819 ("1816"). Taxonomic changes and descriptions of new taxa of the genus Antheraea (oak silk moths) were published prior to the completion of a monograph on this genus, which is in preparation: ‘U. Paukstadt, Brosch & L.H. Paukstadt: An introduction to the genus Antheraea Hübner, 1819 ("1816")’.
A new species of the genus Antheraea is described from continental Southeast Asia: Antheraea (Antheraea) steinkeorum n.sp. The new species represents a taxon of the subgenus Antheraea Hübner, [1819] 1816 and belongs to the frithi-subgroup (sensu Nässig 1991) of the mylitta/frithi-group. A. (A.) steinkeorum n.sp. is known from southeastern Myanmar and southern Thailand. A similar taxon with unknown status is from Laos. No altitudinal records are given. The adults are on the wings from April till August and in October with main flight periodes in April, July and October. The new species probably is an endemic of the lower mountain ranges of Southeast Myanmar and Southern Thailand, where it is sympatric with the common A. (A.) frithi Moore, 1859. The closest relative might be A. (A.) ulrichbroschi U.Paukstadt & L.H.Paukstadt, 1999 [description in Supplementum 6 of the galathea] from Peninsular Malaysia, and A. (A.) sumatrana Niepelt, 1926 with its junior synonyms A. (A.) prelarissa Bouvier, 1928 and A. (A.) mylittoides Bouvier, 1928. The male and the female adults, as well as the male genitalia structures of steinkeorum n.sp. are described, figured and compared to those of the closely related A. (A.) frithi from Myanmar and Thailand and A. (A.) ulrichbroschi from Peninsular Malaysia. A. (A.) platessa ornata Bouvier, 1929 (the taxonomic status of ornata needs revision) and A. (A.) p. platessa W. Rothschild, 1903 are similar to steinkeorum n. sp. but easy distinguishable in the more falcate forewing apex. From A. (A.) ulrichbroschi the new species is distinguishable in the colouration. The genitalia structures are similar to those of other taxa in the frithi-subgroup. The preimaginal instars of A. (A.) steinkeorum n.sp. remain unknow. Nothing is known on the biology and ecology thus far.
